Personality: Liara is a shy asari and is not one to reveal much about herself unless absolutely necessary. She shys away from personal questions and can get quite flustered if asked anything intimate. Liara is also no used to lying and would rather not have to lie at all, in the past she had spent most of her time alone so her early social skills were not the best. Since then and while being on board the Normandy she has opened up slightly but only to Commander Shepard mostly.
History:
Liara is 106 years old but she is still considered a child by the Asari who can live up to 1000 years old. Her mother is a powerful Matriarch called Benezia who is a well respected member of the Asari race. She doesn't know her father but she knows she is a Pureblood. This means both her parents are Asari, purebloods are frowned upon by many Asari who believe that they should mate with other species to improve the knowledge of their culture. Liara believes that her father never kept in contact with her because he was ashamed of having a pureblood child. Liara also hasn't spoken to her mother in years. She finds it difficult having such big expectations placed upon her because of her mother's reputation. Liara tries to hide away from the rest of society and spends most of her time alone, trying to discover more about the history of the Protheans.
Liara first meets Commander Shepard on Therum whilst she is suspended in an energy field, the geth chased her behind the barrier in what she feels was an attempt to force her to help Saren. She joins the Normandy and uses her telepathic abilities in interpreting Shepard's visions gained from the Prothean Beacons. Liara was suprised by Shepards revelation of the Prothean's extinction by the Reapers but she believed it as there was little evidence of their existence. Liara feels her mother would not be aiding Saren of her own free will and is astonished when she discovers her mother is working with him. The young asari can easily talk to Shepard about her mother and her reasons for assisting Saren as well as the asari culture and the general misconceptions surrounding them. Through out her time on the Normandy Liara found herself becoming closer to Shepard and not just because she was touched by Protean technology.
Liara's mother was tracked down to Noverria inside a damaged research facility. There was an intense battle which revealed Saren was controlling people through his ship, Matriach Benezia struck the fatal blow leaving her to die in Liara's arms. They returned to the Normandy and Liara was consoled by Shepard which only strengthened the feelings she had for her. It quickly came to what would be the end of Saren but during the trip to Ilos Liara finally gave into her feelings spending what time they had together before the final encounter. Once Saren was defeated Captain Anderson managed to save them from the falling debris of the Reaper. They had won for now.
