Biological Information[/u]
Height: 5ft, 5inches (165 cm)
Weight: roughly 135lbs (roughly 61 kg)
Appearance:
Briar is not very imposing at first glance. Her thin frame and slightly short stature make her simply to overlook if you aren't looking for her. She'll never be counted a beautiful by most of common people, but she is who she is and she won't change that. She dresses, moves and carries herself with a relaxed grace and poise that is more natural rather then trained. When not in her armor, she dresses in a mismatched get-up that looks very much like she raided part of it from a some guy's closet the morning after a one night stand. But on her.... it just works. (see below)
Short cropped hair, shaped forward to frame her angled face. Her face is fine boned and average, with the delicate nose and light silver-hazel eyes dominating it. Her hair was originally a soft, washed blonde - but now cosmetically altered to remain blue as it grows. She also has paid to have her lips cosmetically altered to be blue as well - giving her a alien look dispite her humanity. Blue has a swirling, multi-shaded blue tattoo on her left arm that starts on the back of her head, goes up over the back of her elbow and around the shoulder, then down onto her chest and back.
She has a few scars, not as many as most of those that found to defend Earth in the Reaper attack; Blue doesn't really like explaining them all. Most prominent is a scar just to the side of her right eye, about a inch long, where a flying bit of debris nearly took her eye.
Personality:
Defensive and Protective are good words for Blue. She doesn't much care for letting strangers into her life- she'll fight along side them, but she doesn't want to get attached. In her mind, 80% of everyone she meets will die anyway and she doesn't want the pain in her life anymore. She won't violently tell people off, Blue will just... stop talking to them. Only adults though - she's got a soft spot for kids and will always make time for children if they seek her out.
For those that do get close though, she is a defender and protective as hell. She's not a lovey dovey person, but she'll keep her friends safe no matter what it takes. She is often counted as 'one of the boys' by her male friends and, for that reason, she's never gotten along really great with other females. She's especially defensive if someone becomes 'involved' with one of her male friends... most women see it as her being jealous and having her own designs on the guy in question, but mostly - she just doesn't trust other women not to hurt them.
History:
From the start, Briar has been trouble. Born 2 months premature, her surprise arrival actually postponed the deployment of the Cruiser SSV Dallas - a given seeing her mother was the Head Medical Officer on the Cruiser. Her mother missed out on the Deployment, but Pheonna had her hands full with her little, plam-sized daughter. The baby girl pulled threw and, at 5 months old, was allowed to go home with her parents and older brother. When Briar was barely a year, Pheonna returned to the Dallas and her duties, leaving the girl to be raised by her father and brother on Earth.
She grew up a rough and tumble girl, very much a tomboy and a constant source of stress for her father. Pretty much raised by her older brother Flint and his friends, she was more for skinned knees and dirty jeans over make-up and dresses.Fresh out of High School, Briar was approached by a rep for the Alliance's Biotic Program. She was quick for the chance and excelled at under the pressure and challenges - but it became quickly apparent she was NOT going to do well in a military command structure.
Unlike her Brother, she constantly butted heads with her instructors and often was on the receiving end of many, many detentions. Once her training was completed, she simply walked away. Signing on with the crew of a transport ship, she found herself enjoying the chances to visit places she had never dreamed - but also, the woman grew wise to the darker parts of the nature of living creatures. It was a little painful at some points, but she was always a quick learner.
When the Reapers began there assault on Earth, Blue had been on leave - the ship in for repairs, she had taken the time to drop in on her upstanding 'N7' sibling and his family. She had helped him get his wife, Dori, and their three children to safety. There, in the chaos of the first waves, pain waited - the SSV Dallas had been one of the many, many Fleet ships lost to the Reapers. Their mother dead and their father missing, the siblings joined the growing force under the command of Admiral Anderson. Grouping with both civilians and the remaining N7 soldiers, Blue dropped her rebelling natures. As a fully trained Biotic, she proved valuable to the fighters, both defensively and offensively.
When Flint was seriously wounded and had to pull out of the fighting, Blue found herself teamed with a brash young soldier. Blue remained with Drake Stone threw the rest of the fighting, right up into the final push. She took some damage, but the physical wounds were nothing to the emotional. She took the death of Admiral Anderson hard, the first commander she had ever really followed into battle, and retreated a little into herself for a while.
After a bit of thought, Blue opted to terminate employment on the transport ship, instead picking to remain on Earth to help her brother and his family rebuild. Together the siblings place a marker for their mother - 3 weeks later, the body of their father was found and a second marker joined the first. It was a bit of closer for the pair and, while Flint took some time off to heal up, Blue found herself returning to Drake Stone's side.
Not actually military, Blue managed to avoid any awards or 'promotions.' She's not sure how long it will last seeing has she's pretty much smack in the middle of everything at this point - but for now, she is happy simply to help who she wants and follow Drake's lead. For the moment, anyway....
Roleplay Sample:
(turned out a touch long, sorry)
Feet hanging in open air, Briar watched the kids run around the yard. All around them, buildings and windows - it was so weird to be back on Earth. She felt her breath hitch as the kids stumbled close to the edge of the rooftop yard, even knowing the barrier was there. Flint barely batted a eyelash, he smiled at them and returned to checking the burgers on the outdoor cooker.
"Aren't you worried they are gonna run off the edge one day?" Briar said it without thinking, a harsh edge to the words as she dropped down onto the grass. Her bare feet felt funky in the grass, the blades prickling her toes as she moved to stand next to her brother. Flint shook his head, tossing his brown bangs all over in front of his eyes as he did. "Briar, they always play out here but they never get that close to the edge. The barrier keeps them from running off, but its more for the dog then the kids."
"Still..." She knew how bad the whine sounded. You'd think she was there mother, not their aunt. She watched them bounce up the steps, charging into the house in a giggling stampede with the little beagle at their heels. Instead, she could hear Flint's wife yelling at them to take their shoes off. Briar smiled. "So... hows the N7 gig treating you?"
"Same old, same old." Flint used the spactula to toss the burgers from the fire to the plate in his hand without looking at her. "They've called alot of us back planetside - its not that Dori's complaining. She had the hug and the honey-do list waiting when I stepped off the transport." Briar smiled, stepping back as he turned off the cooker and moved over the grass toward the door. She ghosted after him, feeling a little lost. She wasn't... 'family type' person, but she really envied him right now.
Partly up the steps, something pulled her to a stop. A prick on the neck, like someone was watching her. Something made her heartbeat double, her eyes turning to the sky a moment as the vidphone in the house began to ring. Vaguely, she heard Dori answer the call... but her attention was focused on the impossibly huge shape in the clouds.
"Flint..." Uncertain, she felt frozen as the thing descended like the finger of a mad god, slamming into the ground with such force she felt the steps under her shake and move. One of the kids, Monica she thought, cried out for her mother as Flint hung in the doorway, eyes on the ship. He said something, Briar didn't hear it clearly, but she didn't need to.
She cleared the steps with a bound and slammed the door behind her. "We have to go!! Now!" Flint spun, all but tossing the form of 3 yr old David into her arms. "I know! I know!" Dori was grabbing stuff and tossing it into a few bags, but Briar didn't wait. Cradling her nephew in an arm, she forced her feet into her boots and broke for the door. She wasn't going to be up here when that damn thing brought the roof down....
